Jeff Takes to Streets With Style

So I just want to let everyone know that as of today I am proud owner of a Manhattan Portage 1428 brown DJ bag. All the cool kids are doing it, so I decided to jump on the bandwagon. I'm sure you'll see candid photographs of me and 1428 around the City, so just wanted everyone to be prepared.

Subsequently, effective at midnight on May 17, 2007, the L.L. Bean blue, monogrammed backpack went into retirement. It will be used for various tasks, but will no longer be adorned as a daily accessory. Bean would like to thank everyone for the tremendous support he has received over the past nine years.

Mandarin Guests Are So Special

So as most of you know, I'm a GSA at the Mandarin Oriental New York. The prices for the rooms are outrageous. They range from $1,000 to $14,000 per night and the guests couldn't get any weirder. But today I had a couple memorable interactions that I thought would be funny to share. One guest comes in around 10pm and I asked her how her flight was into NYC and she said, "Oh, United just isn't what it used to be." I replied by telling her that the only reason I prefer United is because you can listen to the Air Traffic Control on Channel 9. Upon this, she called me a nerd!! Then secondly, a guest came up to me and asked me if many people told me that I look like Frazier's brother Niles. I insisted that no one did although several have. SHe told me however that I was much cuter that Niles and she asked me if I was an actor....

Wow, now that I've written this both of these stories were really boring. Oh well, I'm going to bed. I'm really just excited about blogging because I've linked this blog to Facebook, so now many more people will be forced to read my mindless ramblings.

jeff's blog to Undergo Rebranding Process

New York, NY -- The Design Staff of jeff's blog released early this morning that the site will undergo a much-needed infrastructural rebranding process. This drastic upgrade will include more frequent posts, global interactivity, and quite frankly more interesting content. To the twos of people who linger on the prophetic writings of Jeff, please stay calm and be ready to embrace grandeur when the time comes. The best sources say that the new and improved blog mogul's site will be rolled out before June 1.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Merry Christmas from New York! Although I sadly am away from family and don't get to see Tyler and Isaac tearing through presents leaving mountains of brightly-colored wrapping paper behind on the floor, I am celebrating with my friends Corey and Kristen. This morning we're having loads of fattening french toast and then we're teaming up with some Italian friends of theirs who I'm fairly certain value the importance of eating in quantities! Feel free to let me know what you're doing today. Take care and ¡Feliz Navidad!

Day 1 in the Big Apple

Good morning, everyone. Yes, according to Vicki (my computerized voice who announces the time), it is a few minutes past noon, and I just got out of the shower. I slept in a bit, but I feel like I deserved the additional rest being that I have relocated myself to one of the busiest cities in the world. I just wanted to take a minute and give you a rundown of my first day in NYC.

After awaking promptly at 11:00am from a sound sleep on my air mattress, I showered, shaved, and headed out to tackle the city. Knowing that I had a rehearsal in Gramercy Park, a location unbeknownst to me, I decided to venture to that part of town (which is lower Manhattan), grab some lunch, and stay put until time for the rehearsal which was to be at 3:00. So I navigated the subways like a pro. I took the 2 to Times Square, hopped on the 7 Crosstown Shuttle, and then took the 6 down to 23rd Street/Park Avenue, where the church was located a brilliant half block from the station. I later learned from a newfound friend of mine that the trip could be accomplished with the usage of only two trains, but nevertheless I felt like an MTA navigational pro.

Anyways, moving on. So I had lunch at this little sandwich chain called Così, a place that I absolutely adore. I honestly can't decide if it's their pesto chicken sandwich that I love, or the fact that their name has an accent on it. You know, in Spanish, we don't have the backwards accents, so I get very excited when I see them. So, I used the WiFi at Così until about 2:15, then I trekked to the church for our rehearsal. Fastforwarding a little, we had the rehearsal and it was great, then I had dinner with the music director at the church at this cool diner where the food is good but the iced tea is really nothing to write home about. After having dinner with Kamel, that's my new friend, I took the N train back to 42nd Street and then took the 2 back home (the 2-train route). Which leads me to now. Sitting on the couch in my underwear, unsure of what to wear to the gig tonight and overwhelmed by the amount of things that need to be purchased to turn my new room into an atmospheric oasis.

Anyways, have a great day, all. Feel free to say hi.

Rita (that's my new way of saying bye.....long story, you probably don't want to know)

The Town So Nice They Named it Twice

So today I drove a record 756.4 miles today originating from Louisville, Kentucky and ending in New York City, my new home. I have lots to say about the drive and its torrential rain accompaniment, but I really need to get some sleep. Stay tuned. Good night.

Driftwood Drive Darwin Award Contender

Take a close look at my mother's neighbor who is competing for the 67th Annual Driftwood Drive Darwin Award. Today this bright soul attempted a 6.4 degree of difficulty head-first, unsecured Christmas light assembly. While I know that this event has been tried and even proven to be quite successful, this feat was rather impressive for a pre-December warmup.

I apologize for the poor quality of this photo, but I was late for a social function and did not have the luxury of snapping the photo from the potential impact site.

Have a great day, everyone.
